Welcome to another easy piano tutorial. You will learn how to play the song, Mercy by Shawn Mendes. Like most of the tutorials on this site, this one is created for beginners. You will learn how to play the melody of the song with your right hand as well as an easy one note at a time left hand part. I have added the chord progression of the song below for your convenience, in case you want to play complete chords with the left hand.
My dear subscribers and visitors (like you) often request the notes for the various songs in text format, so I’ve included them below for your convenience.
The way I learn songs like this is by learning the melody or right hand part first of all. After I have a fair enough grasp of the melody, only then do I move to the left hand part. I practice the left hand part then, try to play both the right and left hand parts together. I am a bit shaky at first depending on the song’s level of difficulty, then gradually it all comes together. I suggest that you try that approach if you’re not already doing that.
Anyway, here’s the video. It starts with me playing the introduction of the song, followed by verse and chorus, with the notes of the right hand part displayed at the top of the video. Then we take a look at the bridge, followed by the melody only. Lastly, we take a look at the left hand notes.

You can play complete chords (or triads) with the left hand if you choose, while playing the melody. The chords are E minor, G major, B minor, A major and D major. For a very in depth look at piano chords, go here. If you’re new to chords, start with major chords, followed by minor chords. Most songs make use of major and minor chords so this is perfect for a beginners. It’s basically two chord sequences.
